This 6-day trek follows the ancient trading route between Paro and Thimphu, passing through stunning alpine landscapes, glacial lakes, and offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Paro to Jele Dzong
Start trek from Ta Dzong museum. Steep climb through pine forests to Jele Dzong (3,500m). Camp overnight.
Day 2: Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha
Trek through rhododendron forests to Jangchulakha (3,780m). Views of Jhomolhari and other peaks.
Day 3: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso
Scenic trail to Jimilangtso Lake (3,870m), known for its giant trout. Camp by the lake.
Day 4: Jimilangtso to Simkotra
Trek to Simkotra Tsho Lake (4,110m), the highest point of the trek. Stunning mountain views.
Day 5: Simkotra to Phajoding
Descend to Phajoding monastery (3,750m) with views of Thimphu Valley.
Day 6: Phajoding to Thimphu
Short descent to Thimphu. Afternoon at leisure in Bhutan's capital.
